A period between 1992 and 2006 I had an interest in exploring matrix surfaces other than paper or canvas. It was in this time that I was experimenting with found surfaces such as chalkboards and wooden flooring, as well as scraps of lumber and plywood. In some cases the woodcut practice of carving into the surface became an added technique. Yet, the primary approach was in simply mixing media such as oil paint and pastels, and drawing as the approach.
